Freehold visitors can now take a virtual tour of the borough.
The Freehold Center Partnership has added to its Internet Web site the ability for visitors to take a virtual tour of the borough. Visitors to www.freeholdcenter.com will find two tour options available: the Historic Freehold tour and the downtown business district tour.
“Freehold has come into the 21st century in terms of Web browsing and being at the fingertips of those on the Web looking for things to do,” said Jayne Carr, the Freehold Center Partnership’s executive director.
She said the two tours give people the opportunity to learn about Freehold and research points of interest before planning a trip. The site also allows consumers to check out a restaurant before committing to a dinner reservation, or browse for items in a shop without having to visit it.
The Historic Freehold tour has 14 sites, including the Covenhoven House, Boxwood Hall, the Monmouth County Historical Association and two locations designed by Warren Conover.
The business district tour highlights 27 locations, including some of the borough’s restaurants, shops and downtown businesses.
The Metropolitan Cafe allows visitors to view the interior of the restaurant, and the Metz Bicycle Museum shows off some of the oldest and most interesting bicycles around, including the 1817 Draisine, the 1896 Zimmy and a collection of 1950s bicycles.
