GLASSBORO -- A local graphic designer has turned her attention to local landmarks with a new calendar that she is selling to promote and benefit the borough's revitalization.
Randi Wolf, who runs her own company called Wolf Designs, said the idea for the calendar came out of her involvement as a volunteer with the borough's Main Street organization.
The calendar, entitled "A Gallery of Glassboro," covers September 2006 through December 2007 with black and white photographs of various locales unique to Glassboro.
"I think Randi did a wonderful job in identifying and photographing the architectural beauty and character contained in the Borough of Glassboro. I would encourage all borough residents to have one of the calendars in their home," said Michael Penk, president of the Greater Glassboro Chamber of Commerce.
There is the striped awning of Angelo's Diner, the wrought iron grapevine on the porch of The Founders Inn, and Rowan's famous Holly Bush mansion, among many others.
"I didn't want to create just an ordinary, run-of-the-mill piece to represent our town. I wanted it to be special. One of my primary goals was to uplift everyone's perception of Glassboro, and share my vision for its positive transformation," said Wolf. "I wanted to show the borough's beauty and potential through an artist's eye."
On sale at several local businesses for $12, the calendar includes 30 coupons. Wolf said she plans to donate a portion of the proceeds to the Glassboro Economic Development Corp. and the Main Street Organization.
"For me, this piece was a natural collaboration of using my talents as a graphic designer and photographer in conjunction with my support for borough revitalization," Wolf said. "We have a lot to look forward to, including the groundbreaking of Rowan Boulevard, which should be a catalyst for the bright future and redevelopment of our downtown."
